Wood cabinets always had an Aura Surrounding them; they are Classic, Elegant, Aristocratic, beautiful and timeless. The appearance of real wood cabinets is noteworthy and add a Magical Feel to any home.

Customization
Wood is flexible and can be used in many different ways in terms of shape, design, and color. Wood cabinets are not terribly labor intensive, meaning you can find more affordable prices on installation, even with certain customizations. On the contrary, metal cabinets for instance, are very labor intensive to install and can cost a lot more money for this reason.

Durability
Not all wood is created equal; some wood cabinets offer a lot more durability than others. High-end woods are extremely durable and known to last for many years. For instance, Teak-Wood is going to be more durable than Mango-Wood.

Wood Cabinet Variety
There are many different types of wood, varying in cost, appearance, and durability. The variety of wood outweighs any other cabinetry material, especially because you can paint wood any color you’d like.
Some of the most common types of wood for kitchen cabinets include:

Grewia tiliifolia Vahl (Unnam) :- Beautiful and durable, dense, Heavy and with well-defined grain. Grewia wood has properties similar to that of Teak & is great for anyone seeking a heavy, robust unique look.

Mango Wood: This grainy light-wood has a very consistent color base which darkens densely in time, and is especially popular if you plan to paint your cabinets a solid color.

Mangium : Mangium is a medium to light colored wood that has a much more defined grain than maple wood. This predictable wood has natural knots and other streaks in it and looks good with a polish finish.

Acacia Nilotica : Beautiful and durable, dense and with well-defined grain. Nilotica wood is great for anyone seeking a more unique look.

Artocarpus heterophyllus (Jack): The color of Jack wood is known to Darken over time, especially with exposure to light. Within a few months of installation the original color may vary. Jack comes with and without rustic knots, and tends to be one of the more rugged & durable woods able to withstand a fair share of good knocks.

Tectona grandis (Teak) : Teak is a tropical hardwood tree species placed in the flowering plant family Lamiaceae. Tectona grandis is a large, deciduous tree that occurs in mixed hardwood forests. Whilst outdoor teak furniture can be left to the elements and become an elegant silver-grey colour, teak used for indoor purposes is often oiled to retain its Aristocratic, warm golden colour

Swietenia macrophylla (Mahogany) : Mahogany is Known for its straight grain and characteristic red brown colour, it polishes and oils very well and can be buffed to a very high shine. An exceptionally durable hardwood, it is the ideal choice for furniture and fittings around the home. Mahogany is commonly used for furniture joinery, flooring veneers and musical instruments.

Gmelina arborea Roxb (Kumbil) : Gmelina arborea timber is white in colour and reasonably strong for its weight. It is used in constructions, furniture, carriages, sports, musical instruments and artificial limbs. ... It is an approved timber for handles of tennis rackets, frames and reinforcements of carom boards and packing cases and crates and also used widely by Artists for Making Sculptures.

Things To Remember When Selecting Wood For Cabinetry:
You don’t have to love the color of the wood you select; there are stains and paints available to change this.

The more rare a wood is, the more money it is going to cost to purchase. Know your options well before making any final decisions.

Wood Cabinets Remain Number One
Overall, wood remains the top choice for high quality cabinets that look great year after year. This is why wood cabinets are often the more expensive option, but not when you work with Tops Kitchen Cabinet. We want everyone to have a kitchen they love, at a price they can afford. We offer the latest in kitchen remodeling at wholesale prices. Be sure to check out our vast selection of cabinets, counter-tops and more!

Wooden Work-Top Remains on Top.
Discover why a wooden worktop should be at the top of your spec list for your new kitchen, providing a great looking, hard wearing worktop for years to come!

Your kitchen worktop will see a lot of use over the years, so it makes sense to choose a material that not only looks good but is easy to maintain and simple to repair if it becomes damaged or marked. The natural choice is solid wood. Wooden worktops have many advantages over surfaces like granite and corian.

Let us have a realistic Look Now …

A solid wood worktop will add warmth, homeliness and character to your kitchen and, if well-looked-after, can last you a lifetime. Wood has a timeless and welcoming natural rustic beauty that other materials lack, which makes it an ideal choice for both traditional and contemporary kitchen designs. Granite and stone can look stark, soulless and cold in some kitchens. Using wood is a great way to soften the look of a kitchen that is otherwise all white and will add a dramatic accent.

Wood is environmentally friendly. These days, most wood used for kitchen worktops will come from sustainable-managed forests – There are FSC certified - which means the wood in our worktops respect and protect the local wildlife as well as the rights of workers. Homely Teak, luxuriously dark Mahogany and fresh and light Venga can all be used to craft durable worktops and each wood has its own unique characteristics that will add something different to your kitchen.

Even the most careful of us sometimes have mishaps in the kitchen. The beauty of a solid wood worktop is it can be made to look as good as new. Dents can be filled; stains and scuffs can be polished out or sanded down and re-oiled. The whole surface can even be sanded down and varnished a different colour if you want to ring the changes. Drop a knife on a laminated surface or take a chip out of a stone or granite surface and it’s much more difficult and expensive to put right. Oil your wooden worktop regularly and it will reward you with many years of great service.

A solid wood worktop will only look better as it ages, gaining in character and patina as its natural colour deepens. Because it’s a natural material, each one will be unique, with its characterful and distinct grain patterns adding another dimension to your home. And it’s naturally anti-bacterial, too.

Unlike other materials like granite, corian and quartz, wood doesn’t always need to be templated in advance like more expensive materials need to be, but always have your worktop installed by a professional kitchen fitter to ensure a perfect design, cut and fit. And because wood is easier to work with, it’s ideal for using in more Futuristic kitchen layouts, too.

Quality lasts long after the price is forgotten, the saying goes, so always buy the best materials that your budget allows to enhance your kitchen and it will look good long into the future.

Wooden Kitchen Tools

Since ancient times, wood has been a popular option for some cooking utensils, such as spoons and spatulas. Even today a lot of people prefer wood over other options, because of both traditional and practical reasons. There are a number of advantages of using wood kitchen tools compared to stainless steel or plastic. Here are some of them:

Wooden Utensils won’t Scratch Your Cookware
Wooden utensils are soft and very gentle in use with the most delicate cooking surfaces. One of the distinct advantages of wooden spatulas is that they are not going to scratch the finish on your non-stick coatings. They also won’t scratch your cast iron or stainless steel pots, and in opposite to metal utensils they are nice and quiet to use.

Wooden Spoons don’t Conduct Heat
Another reason that wooden utensils are superior to metal utensils is that they don’t conduct heat. If you leave a wooden spoon in the hot pot for a long time, the handle will still stay cool. With a metal spoon, you’ll end up with a burned hand. The plastic spoon will melt if it stirs something really hot or it rests on the side of a hot pan.

Wood is an Inert Material
Another plus for the wooden utensils is that wood is non-reactive and won’t leach harmful chemicals into your food. Wooden utensils won’t react with the acids in foods and leave a metallic taste, like metal spoons.

Easy to Grip Handles
Holding a metal spoon can be uncomfortable to grip, while hard edges can damage delicate ingredients. The wooden spoon handles are gently rounded and feel nice in your hand. And you feel comfortable while using it.

Design
Another benefit of wooden kitchen tools is that they look fabulously beautiful and elegant. The creative and artistic design of wooden utensils gives a beautiful appearance to the kitchen. Handcrafted wooden spoons are truly unique functional works of art that make wonderful gifts.

Durability
These utensils are very durable, and as long as you take proper care of them, you can expect them to give you long service. They are hard to break, and you can stir even the thickest ingredients or scrape foods off of the bottom of the pans. Since they can withstand heat, they won’t melt, even in an unattended pan. A little sanding from time to time can help remove burn marks and stains.

Germs and Bacteria don’t Like Wood
Research indicates that the wood appears to have natural germ-killing properties. It has been proven that germs and bacteria grow much faster on plastic and metal than on wooden kitchenware surfaces.

Environmentally Responsible Choice
Environmentally-conscious individuals can choose wooden utensils with confidence. Wood is natural and renewable resource and more environmentally responsible choice. We can help save our environment by using kitchen utensils that are made from renewable, biodegradable and non-toxic substances
.

Wooden cabinets are often a homeowners top choice for their kitchen renovations. In order to keep up with this demand, many stores keep a wide selection of colours and wood types available for purchase. Whether you’re building a new home or renovating an outdated kitchen, keep in mind wooden kitchen cabinets’ pros and cons in order to make an informed decision on your home improvement project.
